DEEP COVE

Located in North Vancouver and nestled in a secluded corner on the Indian Arm, a branch of the Burrard Inlet, is one of the area’s most picturesque neighbourhoods. If you are hoping to move to a small community that is a little further away from the hustle and bustle of Vancouver and surrounded by both coastal and mountainous natural beauty, look no further than Deep Cove. We are sure this is the place for you!

Location

The History of Deep Cove

First Nation people have occupied the area for thousands of years, utilizing its access to the water to catch fish and harvest clams. When white settlers moved to the area in the late 1800s and early 1900s, whaling within the Indian Arm also began to grow in popularity as well. As with many beautiful locations across the Pacific Northwest, Deep Cove transitioned into a summer vacation hotspot by the early 1900s before more permanent residents starting taking to the area in the 1960s and 1970s. Today, Deep Cove holds on to much of its early charm while being home to a small population of year round residents.

Recreation in Deep Cove

In addition to sheer beauty, Deep Cove has built its reputation on the plethora of outdoor recreation activities available around town. Given its location right on the shores of the Indian Arm, kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddle boarding opportunities are aplenty. If you do not have your own equipment, fear not. There are plenty of outfitters around town that rent gear, offering you the perfect opportunity to explore the shoreline and soak up that Vancouver summer sun. In addition to water sports, Deep Cove is also home to many world-class hiking trails, including the popular stroll to Quarry Rock, and biking trails. In fact, the Deep Cove Bike Shop is solely responsible for introducing mountain bikes to Vancouver back in the 1980s. Further, the area is home to two golf courses as well as plenty of parks and green space to relax and enjoy, at your leisure, some of the spectacular nature that makes British Columbia so special.
