Park Royal is bar none one of the most exciting, gorgeous, and up-and-coming areas in all of West Vancouver. The neighbourhood is right on the shoreline, and the waterfront brings with it a whole host of activities, people, and opportunities for the area’s residents. Thankfully, Park Royal has a distinct separation between its commercial districts by the waterfront and its residential spaces just inland. This creates a peaceful bubble for those who live here. All of the wonderful and bustling activity happening at the shore is always easily accessible, yet home life remains undisturbed and provides a hiatus from the intensity. Furthermore, the prosperity and continued development of the shoreline area means that Park Royal is sure to be financially stable, ripe for investment, and rife with employment possibilities for years to come.
If all of those benefits weren’t enough, Park Royal is beautiful at all times of the year. Bountiful green space fills the gaps between the neighbourhood proper and the waterline, surrounds the Capilano river which flows into the bay, and peppers the parks found dotted throughout the area. The Park Royal area is so gifted with great features, it’s hard not to love.
As is immediately evident, the beachfront location of Park Royal is its primary lure. Spend your days lounging at Ambleside beach, a significant community park which also boasts volleyball nets and a coastal walking trail. Also, the area around the shore is spattered with a selection of moderate walking and hiking trails such as the Spirit trail, Capilano Pacific Trail, and more.
For those more partial to the peaks than the waves, Park Royal is just as ideal. Just to the north, sprouting from Millstream Trail Park, the Lawson Creek trail spirals upwards in multiple directions through the Mountains eventually convening with other trails until the summit of Cypress mountain. These trails provide a vast selection for hikers of all skill levels and make for a perfect individual endeavour or day trip for the entire family. Outdoor activities are ample in terms of recreation; however, Park Royal is also conveniently located in terms of business.
The city’s main road, Marine Drive, runs directly into Lions Gate Bridge road which will bring you across Vancouver harbour and straight into downtown Vancouver. For those working in Vancouver proper the entire commute from Park Royal takes less than 20 minutes by car, and for the car-less, will take just under 25 minutes by West Vancouver’s outstanding public transit system. Park Royal is a glowing location for so many reasons, yet the location is but one of many reasons to love it.
While Park Royal is near some of the most peak destinations in West Vancouver, it’s also a destination itself because of how much it has to offer. The neighbourhood is the sort of place where you never run out of things to do, and the waterfront development has become a massive part of that. Certainly, the most alluring part of the shore area is the Park Royal shopping center. This unique indoors and outdoors location is made up of numerous shops, gourmet restaurants, and recreation centers all intertwined by tasteful contemporary architecture.
The area plays host for community events, venture openings, and workshops. It is the premier destination for fashion, fun, sumptuous meals, or even as a spot to meet up with friends. As expansive as the Park Royal shopping center is, the waterfront holds even more. Work on your stroke with friends at the Ambleside Par 3 golf course, catch some air at the Peter Sullivan skate park, or improve your footwork at the West Vancouver Soccer Club. Adjacent to the Soccer Club turf is Rutledge Field, another athletic space ready to be occupied by eager players of any sport. If you’re someone who prefers something more introspective or intellectual, check out the Ferry Building Art Gallery just to the west, a quaint exhibition space with gorgeous views of the pier.
Finally, while the Park Royal Center holds a large selection of outstanding restaurants, there’s plenty to choose from outside it as well. Grab a sweet treat at Savary Island Pie Company or some delicious sushi at Sakura Ichiban. Park Royal is so bursting with things to do, places to eat, and areas to explore, you’ll never feel the need to into Downtown Vancouver, at least not for fear of boredom.
The Park Royal neighbourhood is so enthralling; it may seem overwhelming at first. However, as touched on above, the inland residential section of this area is perfectly buffered. In Park Royal, activity and excitement are options, not impositions. The homes of Park Royal form a community like many others, with families, friends, and wholesome connections. Children attend well-funded and excellent schools in the area like Ridgeview Elementary School and West Vancouver Secondary School.
Indeed, what’s most unique about Park Royal is that commercial space is abundant, still developing, and outstanding for the economy of this area, but it doesn’t contaminate the serenity of the residential community. Home is still home, the people who live here are happy, and Park Royal remains a beautiful place to live.
