Although Grand Boulevard is farther than some of the smaller surrounding mountain towns, it’s still by all accounts a very short trip to reach the back-country. A quick drive, or hopping on the meticulously run public transportation system will bring you up through North Lonsdale or Capilano towards the base of Grouse Mountain and to the beginnings of a plethora of hiking and walking trails. Grand Boulevard is also great because it’s equally as close to the water as it is to the mountains. Just 5 minutes away is the Lonsdale Quay, a blossoming area with a waterfront park, bayside market, and shipyards. While the surrounding area is a huge bonus, the true lure of Grand Boulevard is that you don’t even need to leave the immediate vicinity to encounter prestigious views. The garden development in this area began in the 1960’s and has ballooned into a massive infrastructure project since. Ray Perrault Park, Greenwood park, and the sub-gardens running the length of Grand Boulevard itself make this area a destination in its own right. There are even more perks of Grand Boulevard’s central location in terms of necessities. Just down the road is the reliable Lions Gate Hospital. On the opposite side, wonderfully located in the schism between Loutet and Keith Lynn park, are both Sunshine preschool and Brooksbank Elementary school, with Sutherland Secondary school just to the north.
